What I use to clean my face
I do not wear makeup on a daily basis. I dread having to clean my face before hitting the sack and I suffered from acne through high school, which came back multiple times as an adult so I fear putting anything on my skin. All natural!
I will, however, put on mascara and fill in my eyebrows (I have Trichotillomania I pull out my eyebrows and eyelashes) if I have a date or a night out on the town, but it’s very rare.
Step 1
Wash my face using Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face wash using my Clarisonic brush.
I swear by the Clarisonic brush. My skin feels incredibly smooth after each use and I haven’t seen my pores in years (update: they went out of business… I have no alternative yet, I’ve just stocked up on extra brush heads on poshmark).
Step 2
Tone with Origins United States Balancing tonic.
This is a tonic that specifically balances your skin out. I have an oily t-zone and it works great on my skin.
Step 3
I exfoliate using Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 1% BHA gel (update they no longer make the 1%, I now use the 2% liquid). I use this product every other wash.
This exfoliates skin and minimizes pores without harsh scrubbing. You just apply a layer before applying lotion.
Step 4
Last but not least, LOTION. Or should I say gel. I moisturize my entire face and neck with Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel.
Gel, I am all about the gel. I do not sweat through this gel like I do lotions. I lather this stuff on in layers, I also believe in moisturizing to prevent wrinkles. Seems to be working for me!
DISCLOSURE: I only wash my face about 4 times a week.
I also try to spend as much time outside as possible and I know I am going to get some backlash for this one, but I do still go traditional tanning, in a tanning bed. I believe the suns benefits for the skin and body outweigh the cons. Any time I have a zit, or feel one coming on I always get out into the sun and they dry right up and if they do progress then my Clarisonic cleans the pores right out.
Well there it is, it takes me a little bit longer than it probably does most, but for me it’s totally worth it for healthy, wrinkle free, clear skin!
Oh and drink lots of water to hydrate your skin from the inside out!
